Halo customer Watergate Flood Solutions Ltd has been certified with the recently revised PAS1188 BSI Kitemark for Flood Protection Products for its composite flood door.
Freefoam Building Products are proud to release a new case study featuring the PVC foiled X-Wood cladding range.
This beautiful property in rural Leicestershire originally featured white wood windows and a wood clad annex. The present homeowners decided to update the windows and refurbish the annex area to create an easy to maintain, long lasting façade that met the same high standards as their home. Online research led them to the X-Wood cladding range. After receiving samples of several colour options the Anthracite Grey finish was selected to tone in with the brick work and roof.
- a heavy duty through coloured plastic foam core, covered with a durable plastic skin and then coated with Renolit film which creates a hard wearing, stable material with a beautiful subtle woodgrain effect finish.
The range is available in a choice of six contemporary colours. From subtle White, Cream and Greyed Cedar to traditional Oak and more dramatic Anthracite Grey and Wine Red all with an impressive ten-year guarantee.
The range is an innovative PVC-U exterior cladding that looks and handles like wood but without all the usual maintenance issues associated with timber. The high performance cladding comprises of three different layers
Colin St John, Commercial Director, explains “We have seen the market appetite for PVC cladding steadily increase and are delighted to see this high performance durable product being used to such great effect. The 16mm thick X-Wood board with its attractive finish is the perfect product for any development.”
Based in Hebburn, Tyne & Wear, the company spent 18 months honing its design and subjecting products to rigorous testing in order to achieve the accreditation, with support from VEKA Group. The anti-flood specialist – which fabricates up to 50 doors every week – made the switch to Halo profile in 2015, and has been using its outer frames exclusively ever since. The most recent PAS1188 certificate will be the company's second, having already received one for its PVC-U door models.

Watergate's Sales Manager Gerard Hiscock said: “Having previously gained PAS1188 for our PVC panel doors, to now have the same accreditation for the composite flood door is a testament to the hard work of all involved. We worked extensively with authorities at both a local and national level, to make sure we were bringing something to the market that homeowners could really put their trust in.
A video of the event is currently in production, and will be published on Edgetech’s website.
Warm edge experts Edgetech welcomed VIPs from throughout the industry to a celebration marking a decade of UK manufacturing.
Rachael Radcliffe, Business Development Manager at VEKA Group said: “We've been working closely with Watergate over the past year-and-a-half in trying to achieve the PAS1188 so we are very proud to have been a part of them obtaining this worthy certification.”
Attendees heard presentations from MD Chris Alderson, President of Quanex IG Systems George Wilson, who has since been promoted to COO of the Quanex Group, Quanex Chairman and CEO Bill Griffiths, as well as industry expert Andrew Scott, MD of Insight Data. Guests were also treated to a virtual tour of the new facilities.
The Chairman’s Safety Award was presented to Works Manager John Stark to recognize their impeccable safety record, while Head of Marketing Charlotte Davies received a £1,000 donation towards her efforts for Paddle2Pedal.
The company’s Coventry factory became the first warm edge manufacturing facility in the country back in 2007. Exactly ten years on, dignitaries including Bill Griffiths and George Wilson from parent company Quanex and John Blundell, Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry, marked the anniversary by officially opening a $1.3m extension to the same site.
“We were absolutely delighted to welcome so many to our HQ to celebrate such a major milestone and unveil our new facilities,” comments Chris.
“It also gave us the chance to share our vision for the next decade and beyond and our unwavering commitment to product research and development.”
The event culminated with a medieval banquet, and annual golf event the following day.
“The PAS1188 standard was updated in 2014 with even more stringent guidelines and particular attention being paid to the amount of leakage that would be deemed acceptable for any products requesting the certification, so to hold this official safety standard means our clients can share our absolute confidence in this product.”
