electric-powered home automation systems – and in the past it has been a daunting and a complex task that could cause damage to the wiring of the blinds or the home automation system.
Ian Short, MD said: “The global home automation market was valued at $4.41 billion in 2014 and is set to grow by 26.3% by 2020. Home automation systems integrate various domestic applications such as lighting, heating, safety and security, energy management, entertainment systems – and motorised integral blinds - and are growing in popularity in the UK, as the concept of “smart” homes takes off.
“This inspired us to commission the development of a unique interface called the SmartMotion which makes the process so simple it’s child’s play. In one easy step the operation of the blinds is smoothly integrated into the whole home automation system so that they can be controlled at the touch of a button, even when you’re not at home.”
“An increasing number of our customers are being asked to incorporate our motorised Uni-blinds® integral blinds into
The SmartMotion is exclusive to Morley Glass & Glazing and is compatible with the MB System of Uni-Blinds®, which operate using an electric brushless motor. It is supplied pre-wired and fully tested, making for a smooth, problem-free installation.

door?
northern vision - september 2017 8
It’s a serious question that many should be asking when choosing the right fire doors, say the experts from Masterdor, the GRP and engineered timber door specialists owned by Synseal Group.
“Customers can be unsure whether they should be selling a FD30 or FD60 door. That’s why we offer a complete range of GRP and solid, engineered timber products.”
“A fire door is only a fire door if it is installed correctly, with fully tested, fire-rated hardware and frames which meet British Standards,” says Group Sales and Marketing Director, Andy Jones.
The Benchmark fire door range includes six FD30s 44mm GRP fire doors. The Craftsman range includes traditional and contemporary engineered timber styles, available in 44mm thickness for a FD30/FD30s fire door or 54mm thickness for a FD60/FD60s fire door. All doors meet BS 476: part 22 standards and are available with fire-rated hardware which meets Secured by Design requirements, and a Sheerframe 8000 PVC-U frame with steel reinforcement which meets BS EN 1643 criteria for FD30s smoke testing.
“We have seen an increase in enquiries about fire door specification following the tragic Grenfell Tower fire. We get a lot of questions about how to combine the right door with appropriate hardware and frames. Our experts are always more than happy to answer these kinds of questions.
